ICST and knowledge managementThe objective of this research theme is to study how ICST (information and communication sciences and technologies), can contribute to the knowledge management and skills policies within companies and government departments. If the industrial revolution forged an economic model of how to transform natural material resources to satisfy the needs of individuals and societies, knowledge has today become a resource in its own right and requires everyone to treat it as such from now on. The profound changes caused by ICST are leading both companies and government departments to think up and develop representations and shared values to view the future on a new basis. Initial research programme Carry out research into languages and tools used to convey knowledge. Study how to improve knowledge creation processes (using "people to people" communication and knowledge extraction technology). Study the vast possibilities for storing knowledge offered by ICST. Research into how to simplify, accelerate and widen knowledge transfer, avoiding a profusion of tools and favouring coherence and simplicity. Study how to permit the automated application of knowledge. Assess the results of the research done on this theme via tele-learning sessions using the platform of the "hosting" Foundation. Develop a bilingual (or even multilingual) "ICST and knowledge management" Web site that will be a benchmark Web site for both the private and public sectors in the field of knowledge and skill management whether it be in France or the countries with the greatest needs (developing countries).
